Overview
The original Masterplan for the Papyrus Mill project proposed a mixed development of homes and offices on the site of the old Papyrus Works, located next to Papyrus Villas and close to the picturesque village of Newton Kyme.
The proposed development would have included:
- Up to 200, two and three story homes, creating a variety of property types catering for different income levels and needs
- A courtyard of two and three story offices of up to 20,000 square feet, located at the entrance to the site. These could potentially provide jobs for up to 80 people
- A range of formal and informal green spaces and landscaped areas throughout the development
- The repair and opening of the Wharfe viaduct to provide pedestrian and cyclist access to Thorpe Arch Trading Estate and Wetherby
Design code
In addition to identifying the development uses and open spaces to be created, the masterplan included a design code which would be used by the council to enforce a high standard of design for subsequent detailed planning applications.
