PAPYRUSMILL - Redevelopment of the old paper mill site and surronding area in Newton Kyme North Yorkshire

Benefits to the community

Green Travel Plan

A key consideration of the project was the development and promotion of a Green Travel Plan.

By putting such a plan in place it was hoped that any new development would see no marked increase in the amount of traffic movements, an issue that was raised by local residents.

Also, such a plan is a demonstration of thoughtful planning and good practice, and has obvious long-term environmental benefits.

CEG has considerable experience of developing effective Green Travel Plans within wider development projects. One such example is the Kirkstall Forge project. Read the Kirkstall Forge website for more information

We would encourage green travel in the following ways:

  • By creating a sustainable travel plan to maximise non-car use and promote this concept with the local community
  • By encouraging bus use with a years' free travel ticket for residents and employees
  • By providing safe and pleasant walkways throughout the development
